Played my first preseason friendly footie match this week and guess what, i came off injured after 20 mins when my back seized up! However i kept moving on it and came back on for the second half when i made a blinding slide tackle got the ball and then went right through the cocky shit and got the man as well. The downside is my knee now looks like this….

Migrating from one pc to another…….quickly

13 July, 2010 (11:27) | PC, Tech Stuff | By: Rich

Yesterday I received my new work laptop. Luckily it took me less than half an hour to move everything I needed across to it.

I use dropbox for all my documents. Installed this on the new laptop and BAM five minutes later I had all the documents on the new machine. The other fantastic thing I use is Xmarks which sync’s all Firefox bookmarks and passwords.

The only thing that took the time was installing all the apps, programs and utilities. However I have seen this as a good opportunity to have a clear out and not install any that I don’t use!

iPhone OS4 (or IOS4) Follow Up

29 June, 2010 (21:48) | Phones, Tech Stuff | By: Rich

Ok, I’ve been using IOS4 for a week now. I’m not overly impressed with the fact the battery life seems to be far worse than it was before and that’s with the so called “task manager” empty.

The task manager is more like a recently used program list, as when you load up an app from there it seems to start it from the beginning. This maybe that some apps have not been updated to work with the task manager though. Time will tell!

The good side is I like the red squiggly spell check line when writing emails which is identical to MS Office (fig1). Then if you click on the line you get a list of possible options. (fig2)

The folders is the most obvious addition and I love it! It took a while to get used to after I OCD’D them. However know I don’t understand why they wasn’t an option in previous versions.

The camera changes haven’t really been used, as I very rarely use the camera at all!

As for the problems I mentioned in the first review, Google fixed these the very next day. So my email, Calender and contact sync’ing is now all back up and running flawlessly.

That is about it for my thoughts on it!

Iphone OS4 (or IOS4) Review

21 June, 2010 (23:05) | Phones, Tech Stuff | By: Rich

Well I upgraded to IOS4 this evening and so far I’m impressed. It’s left my phone looking at lot tidier (some may say OCD’ed)

IPhone OS4

However I’m waiting to see on battery life if the multitasking has any affect. I’ve read you can only have 7 apps open in the background which I guess is a good thing although does it have to be that many? I know I don’t use that many apps throughout a day or possibly even in a week.

I like the possibility of having different backgrounds although once again am slightly concerned about the detrimental effects on the already somewhat lacking battery!

The down side is its broken my Google Domain Apps email and calendar syncing. I’ve had a look on Google answers and it appears Google do not support IOS4 at the moment but they are working on it. As I’m in front of a pc normally between 9am – 6pm give or take. It’s not too much of an issue.

I will post a more detailed right up on IOS4 in a week’s time when I’ve had more of a chance to tinker with it, and find out more about what it can and can’t do. But So far I’m happy to say I’m impressed!

After hacking the template files I have managed to get some links to display in the blogroll on the left. Ive also added a links page which will display links I still like but don’t want to display on every page. These may also change every now and again depending on how I feel! :-)

Hooray!

A Great; however long and tiring day (espicially after the brussels weekend!) with more pictures taken then in brussels! Which left my iphone with not very much battery left at all.

Brussels 2010 – Lisa’s Birthday

14 June, 2010 (23:13) | Photo's, Travel | By: Rich

A great weekend with Lisa in brussels to celebrate her Birthday. I think we both hope to re-visit Brussels at some point in the future for another weekend away. We didnt really do a lot of site seeing but we seemed to walk for miles upon miles across Brussels taking in the local surrondings and enjoying a relaxing pint (or half.)

There is only a few snaps taken and there linked below and in the wrong order. Will run through a bit of detail about each one.

  • The two pints was in an o’rielys pub which we found to watch the england game in however when we re-found it after getting lost it was too full and they wasnt letting anyone else in.
  • The second picture is of lisa, with the normal Jugs that they serve pints in. Needless to say she struggled to lift them!
  • The rest of the pictures are of the buildings in the square thirty seconds walk from our hotel.
